Position Overview
The Investment Banking Analyst is responsible for supporting the Chief Financial Officer and Executive team to advance the creation and development of company business cases for new investments and developments. Key responsibilities will include providing financial and investment case modelling, ownership of existing financial models, analyzing new business development opportunities for operational and financial viability, researching and reporting on business and industry trends, analyzing historical results to inform regular variance analysis, and working in collaboration with all members of the organization. This role will also have day to day oversight of the analytics team.
Primary Responsibilities
Analyze and model business opportunities
- Investment due diligence and analysis in support of development opportunities
- Create and drive supporting investment and financial models using industry best practices
- Define investment and business case requirements, milestones and budgets and track accordingly
- Interpret, evaluate and interrelate research data and develop integrated business analyses and projections for incorporation into strategic decision-making
- Monitor sector, market and economic conditions and assess their impact on development opportunities and current business operations
- Provide technical analysis and reporting through collecting, analyzing and summarizing key business and industry information and trends to support strategic and business efforts
- Retain, reuse and leverage data and learnings to inform organizational initiatives
- Understand and communicate the financial and operational impact of changes in the business
- Create informative, actionable and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement
- Provide insights into monthly and quarterly management and Board reports
- Own and manage existing financial models of the business

- Degree in Business or Finance, Math, or related equivalent experience
- 3 – 6 years relevant experience in investment and financial analysis and modeling and business research; prefer candidates with experience specifically in the investment or banking fields
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to communicate information whether technical or non-technical, to the team and customers in a clear and concise manner
- The ability to participate in projects, identify priorities, establishing time frames and complete or adjust where required
- Experience using data mining to find a variety of data set patterns
- Ability to interpret results and find insights in data
- Adapt and be flexible in a complex and changing environment; adjust plans, goals, actions or priorities to meet changing situations
- Work independently with little supervision or direction
- Collaborate and communicate with people at different levels within the organization to accomplish a common goal
